Area: 576 sq. miles
County Seat: Ogden
Area Code(s): 801
Time Zone: Mountain

In the winter of 1825-26, a party of fur trappers led by John Henry Weber was camped near a river in the Salt Lake Valley. Either Weber or a member of his party named the river Weber River. Subsequently, Weber Canyon, Weber County, and Weber State University were named for the river. Weber County was formed in 1850 as a much larger county, including parts of Nevada and unorganized parts of Utah. As Nevada and Utah evolved, Weber County was reduced to its current size. It is now Utah's second-smallest county by land area, but fourth most populous. It is part of the Wasatch Front, Utah's chain of cities along the western edge of the Wasatch Range where most of Utah's population resides. Adjacent counties are Box Elder to the northwest, Cache to the north, Rich to the northeast, Morgan and Davis to the south, and Tooele to the southwest. The eastern part of Weber County is on the shores of Great Salt Lake. The county has 14 cities and one town. Ogden is the county seat and largest city, with a population of 87,000. Check out the categories below for a multitude of public records, including court records, County Commission meeting minutes, and marriage records. [1]
