The Nebraska Secretary of State Business Services Division is responsible for business and corporate records. Corporations, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships, and nonprofit corporations all file documents through the Secretary of State. An online searchable database is available, whereby business record searches can be performed by business name. Records available include Certificates of Good Standing and other filed documents. Viewing these records is free; however, a fee is required to obtain a copy of the record.

The Secretary of State also manages the licensing of collection agencies, debt management agencies, private detectives, and polygraph and voice stress examiners. The Secretary of State provides online lists of individuals licensed in the respective professions.

The Department of Health and Human Services is responsible for licensing health care professionals, such as doctors, nurses, and dentists. Searches can be performed by profession, name, license number, or location. Attorney licensing is managed by the Nebraska Bar Association. An online database is available, whereby searches can be performed by name or address.

Additionally, there are several boards in Nebraska which manage the licensing of various professions, including accountants, geologists, and real estate agents. Many of these boards provide online access to license records. An online database of most of Nebraska’s professional licensing boards is available through the Nebraska Library Commission
